THE FARM

Garlidna Farm is a National Heritage Site - in the middle of nowhere but conveniently close to everything you might need. The farmhouse and cottages are surrounded by our own land, which includes 25 acres of paddocks on one side and 70 acres of croft on the other.

A haven for wildlife, the croft offers wonderful opportunities for anyone who appreciates the fascinating worlds of fur, feathers, plants and flowers. Its paths, streams, ponds and woodland are home to many rare species of animals, birds and butterflies and its unrivalled peace is a tonic in itself and with open space and no near neighbours it is perfect for children, who can explore and enjoy it for as long as they have the energy.

The farm was once the heart of Garlidna United Mines, the centre of both the company and the local mining community, its stables, stores and smithy bustling with life. Evidence of a thriving mining village still exists: boundary markers date back hundreds of years, carefully staking their claim to the mineral rich territory while nearby are the sites of the school and the church that supported so many families in years gone by.

Garlidna Farm has three cottages available to rent, the Longbarn and the Haybarn sleep four people each and Grannies Cottage which sleeps 2 people. All three cottages are newly renovated cornish barns. They have modern facilities and have been tastefully decorated to enhance their period charm and original features. We aim to provide a 'home from home'. They each have efficient, easily controlled central heating and hot water. We provide good quality linen and towels and the cottages are left with a selection of useful household items such as washing and dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, hand soap, bin bags, tea, coffee, milk, sugar etc.
